They say hope is the last thing to die. If this is true, many other things die first. Wealth. Love. And also dreams. Yet in the notorious suburb of Scampia, some dreamers refuse to admit defeat. In recent years Scampia has garnered a reputation throughout Europe thanks to the Italian film and TV series Gomorra which shine a spotlight on the Neapolitan mafia scene. In 2013 German journalist Tobias Sauer reported for our series EUtopia on the ground, exploring the broken dreams of southern Italy.
