Lee Bae and Yves Laloy at Perrotin Paris

From January 8, 2022, the Perrotin Gallery in Paris dedicates two solo exhibitions to artists Lee Bae (b.1956) and Yves Laloy (1920-1999).

From January 8 to March 16, 2022, Perrotin is dedicating its first monographic exhibition to Yves Laloy. Entitled "Yves Laloy: Vision," some 50 works by the artist are on display, including two on loan from public museums. Laloy, who began his career as an architect, began to take part in exhibitions dedicated to surrealism, being praised by André Breton, although he never considered himself part of the surrealist movement. According to the Gallery, "while Laloy’s spiritual dimension is forcefully expressed in the work, another singularity is clear, even to those looking at it today: he was a ‘sampler’ of extremely heterogenous influences, in a way that is ultimately quite unconventional in postwar art."
Also beginning January 8, and ending in this case in February 22, Perrotin presents "Lee Bae: Black in Constellation," the second exhibition by artist Lee Bae at Perrotin Paris, featuring works from the first "Issu du feu" series of paintings made with pieces of charcoal; “Landscape," large abstract landscapes separated into two spaces, black and white; and "Untitled," works created using charcoal ink and acrylic on canvas; as well as two series not previously exhibited in France: "Brushstroke," and the second "Issu du feu" series.
In addition to these two exhibitions, from January 15, Perrotin will present in his New York gallery an exhibition dedicated to the artist Bernard Frieze, and another one dedicated to Jean-Michel Othoniel in his Hong Kong gallery.
