Academy Award winner Gary Oldman will be starring in a television adaptation of Mike Herron's Slough House novels for Apple.
According to Variety, " the show follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 – Slough House. Oldman will star as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies who end up in Slough House due to their career ending mistakes."
"Slow Horses" is the title of the first of six books in Herron's Slough House series. Willl Smith, a former, Emmy-winning writer of "Veep" and "The Thick Of It," will be penning the script and serve as executive producer. Also executive producing are Graham Yost, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Matrux, and Douglas Urbanski. See-Saw Films will produce the series.
"Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy"
Oldman won his first Academy Award last year for portraying the former British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, in "Darkest Hour." Dawning heavy makeup and prosthetics, Oldman's appearance also garnered an Oscar for the film's Makeup and Hairstyling. It was also nominated in the categories of Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. The film also won Oldman the BAFTA award for Best Leading Actor.
Oldman is also well known for his performances in his Oscar nominated role in "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," as well as "Bram Stoker's Dracula," "Sid and Nancy," "Leon": The Professional," "True Romance," the "Harry Potter" franchise and "The Dark Knight" franchise. A previous outing with television, Oldman starred in a guest role in "Friends," which was later recognized with an Emmy nomination.
Oldman can be seen in Steven Soderbergh's "The Laundromat," now streaming on Netflix.
