With the development of modern technology, world has been shaped into a global village. Smartphone is one of such gadgets that was invented in 1992 by IBM.
A smartphone consists of a plethora of features and its features have been proliferating with each new set launched by different mobile companies. Gone are the days when people used cellphones for communication purpose only. The Android version of smartphone has created a sort of revolution in the modern era with its features. Despite all these merits, smartphones also have lot to do with the disturbance in education of students. The fast growing tendency of smartphone craze is affecting the education of students adversely.
The use of smartphone is prevalent among teenagers and students which causes several complications and problems in their study process. The most important thing that students should do is to give his sheer attention to his studies. However, smartphone is one of the obvious reasons of distractions in students.
The overuse of smartphone causes to lower the productivity of students and wastes the time that should be invested studying. Other than communication functions, smartphone possesses a variety of other functions and applications. With this digital device, world is felt to be around you. With its multiple functions and applications including games and media it is convenient and enjoyable to use and carry smartphone everywhere we go. With mobile data easy access and fast processing enable the students to get in touch with the modern world and be an active participant.
The overuse of smartphone among students not only distracts them from their academic work but also wastes their precious time. A person unaware and not participating in social media is believed to be out of world. The society has become an addiction in today's youth including students and elders.
A student who is supposed to spend the most of his time on his studies and academic activities found to be engrossed in applications of social media with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram on the top of the list. Students often get distracted with messages they receive and notification that pop during their studies. The addition of social media applications hinders him to supply his time to what he actually has to do.
The entertainment applications and chatting reduce the sleep hour of students and causes workload which directly affects their health and study. The overuse and addiction of smartphone affects the quality and efficiency due to insufficient attention towards studies owing to addiction of smartphone.
It is also very much common to be friends on social media in order to get in touch with people around you. A proliferating tendency has also been observed among females addicted to use of smartphone which distracts them from their academic activities. The pressure builds up when exams approach. The more time had to be spent on studies was spent in using smartphone. This is what results in poor performance in exams and students resort to cheating as a productive tool to get promoted to next classes.
This , further, leads to inefficient degree holders. Such youth get neglected in every aspect of life as they are unable to meet the requirements of jobs and vacancies. This is how unemployment spirals leading to illicit and illegal means and activities of earning livelihood.
It is high time the students of today's era realized the importance and significance of time for their studies and reduced the unnecessary use of smartphone. We , the students should make sure that ample amount of time is being spent on education.
The prosperity of future of students depends upon what they are doing today. Students of the modern era are supposed to be engrossed to their studies more than they are in order to compete the world and come up with the expectations their parents. No doubt education is the only source and resort with the help of which we can confront the upcoming challenges of our life.
