Weird Natural Phenomena

Weird Natural Phenomena
Natural world is beautiful and mother nature is full of mysteries and twists. There are natural occurrences all over the world from time to time. Starting from the Northern Lights seen in USA, Canada, Antarctica and Europe to the beautifully blazing volcano of Iceland – there are many phenomena which occur from time to time. In the following article, we have listed five of the weird natural phenomena that occur all over the world.

Waterspouts

Weird Natural Phenomena

Waterspouts are basically tornadoes on water. They are exactly as they appear and they are astonishing to be exact. Although waterspouts are not that scary or threat to the people and things that are on land but they can be if you are on water. Typically, a waterspout gains over three hundred kilometers per hour in rotational speed and they can threaten boats, ferries or anything in the water body. Waterspouts are known to be the cause of many ship wrecks and there is a rumor that they are the cause of shipwrecks in the Bermuda Triangle. From South Asia to South America, this weird thing occurs everywhere but are more prevalent in Florida. It is reported that every year more than four hundred water spouts occur there, a weird statistic!

Bio-luminescent Tides

Weird Natural Phenomena

This weird but amazing looking phenomenon occurs only when the time and condition is right. A very rare event to occur, the bio-luminescent tides happen when phytoplankton’s in the ocean form a thick and visible layer near the surface of the water. The algae blooms look amazing during the night time. Usually occurring in parts of California and some other places, the bio-luminescent variety of the Noctiluca scintillans bloom such that the waves or tides look red after dark. Whenever these planktons are stressed, then their color changes to blue. Thus, two different color of tides can be witnessed – one red and the other blue.

Nacreous clouds rent

Weird Natural Phenomena

types of cloud formations that occur now and then. Similarly, one cloud formation that occurs in parts above or below the equator is the nacreous cloud formation. This is a rare phenomenon occurring where the clouds looking like “mother of pearls” occur at dawn or dusk. They usually happen when the sun is just going to rise or has just set. The clouds are very high in the sky and they reflect the sun’s light from the lower part of the horizon. This causes them to shine brightly and shine unlike the normal clouds that are seen in the sky. Nacreous clouds occur in the lower stratosphere and the conditions there do not support in proper cloud forming. Thus, this beautiful and weird phenomenon occurs not often and occurs in places like Iceland, Northern Canada and such far places from the equator.

Lightning in Volcano

Weird Natural Phenomena

Volcanoes are amazing and volcanic eruptions seem weird at times. However, lightning is one such phenomenon as well which is weird and amazing at the same time. Can you possibly imagine both occurring together? Does it seem weird? This is a very rare but cool phenomenon occurring where lightning strikes occur in volcanic eruptions. This is basically a lightning storm which takes place while the volcanic eruptions occur. A very weird yet a very astonishing feat. There is no concrete scientific evidence behind this weird event but many suggest that this occurs due to some difference of electric charges in the smoke and the sky. A cool and weird feat!

Undulatus asperatus

Weird Natural Phenomena

A very weird name isn’t it? Its occurrence is weird as well. Undulatus asperatus or just asperitas are a weird type of cloud formation. They occur very rarely, by very, I mean, extremely rarely and have only been classified as a separate type of cloud formation since 2009. They appear be scary and stormy but these type of clouds do not linger for much time in the sky. They form when fast blowing winds bring bottom layers of clouds up to the top and create the weird and fancy shapes. They usually occur in the USA and Canada and they occur in noon time or early in the morning.
