St Lucia: West Indies team will continue the anti-racist movement "Black Lives Matter" by kneeling on the field in the Test series against South Africa starting on Thursday.

The 'Black Lives Matter' movement was launched in America after the death of George Floyd, a citizen of African descent, at the hands of a white police officer.
Soon this movement reached the field of sports as well. West Indies were one of the first teams whose players supported it on one knee.

Former West Indies captain Jason Holder has supported the "Black Lives Matter" movement since its inception. He says that the anti-racism movement should not be limited to only symbolic support, but it should have some meaning.
Holder told Cricinfo, “I had some discussion about this and I think there are some people who think that this is an ineffective action to be done before matches. I would like to see some new initiatives to revive this movement.”

"I don't want people to just think that they are kneeling for 'Black Lives Matter' because that's the tradition, that's the practice. It must have some meaning. Maybe, that's something we can do as a group. Maybe a video and a video message, just to reiterate what the movement is."
South Africa, on the other hand, opted to wear a black bandage and raise a fist instead of kneeling on one knee to protest racism.
South Africa captain Dean Elgar has said that he is leaving it to his players how they want to protest.
