Fifty years of Colombian armed conflict triggered despair and deep mis-trust in the population towards guerrilla groups. In a referendum, the Colombian people rejected the peace accords reached between the Santos administration and the FARC guerrilla leaders in August 2016. Nevertheless, a revised version was implemented by the end of the year. Employing normative theory principles of jus post bellum, this paper analyses the legitimacy of the final agreement. Merg-ing different theoretical conceptions, this paper introduces a more applicable analytic framework of “permissible action postwar”, contributing to filling a theo-retical lacuna in just war theory. Applying this framework to the accords, the anal-ysis demonstrates that the settlement can be considered a full-fledged attempt to achieve a just and durable peace.
