2019 European Film Awards Nominations: 'Pain and Glory,' 'An Officer and A Spy' Lead

At the Seville European Film Festival, the European Film Academy and EFA Productions proudly announced the nominations for the 32nd European Film Awards. The more than 3,600 EFA Members will now vote for the winners who will be presented during the awards ceremony on 7 December in Berlin.
Roman Polanski's latest, "An Officer and A Spy," shares four total nominations on the board with Pedro Almodóvar's critically adored feature, "Pain and Glory." Among its nominations, Polanski's film is up for Best European Film and Best Director. Almodóvar's latest and most personal film sees lead actor Antonio Banderas nominated for Best European Actor, as well as the film landing a nod for Best European Film, Best European Director and Best European Screenwriter for the director.
Céline Sciamma's Cannes award-winning feature, "Portrait of A Lady on Fire" made its way into the nominations for Best European Screenwriter for Sciamma as well as Best European Actress for both Noémie Merlant & Adèle Haenel.
