WATCH: New Trailer Released For Tom Hooper's 'Cats' Sees More of The Jelicles

Universal Pictures released a new trailer for Tom Hooper's "Cats" Tuesday morning.
The film is a big screen adaptation of the beloved hit Broadway musical of the same name. It stars James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson and introduces Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward.
“Cats,” Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical which premiered nearly four decades ago on stage, is the story of a group of cats called “the Jelicles” who make a choice deciding which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.

A behind-the-scenes featurette landed online in July, giving audiences, both optimistic and skeptical, what goes into the film's production design, rehearsal and "digital fur" technology. From the grand Broadway stage to the film's oversized set pieces to establish a truly cat-sized spectacle, Hooper’s film seems primed for an anticipated release, from the critics and curious theatre fans alike.
Hooper won his first Oscar for directing “The King’s Speech,” which also won the BAFTA for Best British Film that year. His past work includes the Oscar-winning dramas “The Danish Girl” and the musical drama “Les Misérables,” which landed Academy Award wins for Anne Hathaway's supporting role, sound mixing and makeup and hairstyling.
Hooper now envisions the longest-running Broadway musical with a diverse ensemble all bringing it to the table. "Cats" first debuted at the New London Theatre in 1981, eventually winning seven Tony Awards in 1983 and ran for 18 years on Broadway. Hooper's film is under the choreography of Tony-winner Andy Blankenbuehler (“Hamilton,” “In the Heights”).
