Mumbai: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who left an indelible mark in Indian cinema with his stellar performances, passed away at a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday morning after prolonged illness. Dilip Kumar, popularly known as 'Tragedy King' in the Hindi film world, was 98 years old.

Wife Saira Banu has reached her residence with the body of Dilip Kumar Sahab, where many big personalities are reaching to pay their last farewell to the 'Tragedy King' of Bollywood.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also reached to bid farewell to Dilip Kumar. At the same time, Uddhav Thackeray has given instructions that the last rites of Dilip Sahab will be done with government honours.

Condoling the death of veteran actor Dilip Kumar, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that his extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema will be remembered.
In a tweet, Rahul said, "My condolences to the family, friends and fans of Dilip Kumar ji. His extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema will be remembered by generations to come."
Dilip Kumar was admitted in the Non-Covid Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai since last Tuesday.
It was informed on his official Twitter account that the last rites of the actor will be performed at 5 pm at Juhu Cemetery in Santacruz, Mumbai.
Dr. Jaleel Parkar, who was treating him, said, "He passed away at 7.30 am due to prolonged illness." Kumar is survived by his wife and actress Saira Banu.
Dilip Kumar's family friend Faizal Farooqui wrote on the actor's official Twitter account at 8:01 am, "With a heavy heart and extremely sad, I announce that our dear Dilip Sahab passed away a few minutes ago. done. We are the servants of Allah and we have to go back to Him."
Kumar's real name was Mohammad Yusuf Khan. He was born on 11 December 1922 in Peshawar.
